OUR BACKGROUND
As Canada is in the midst of an epidemic of overweight and obesity, with rates rising steadily in recent decades, GoodLife Fitness decided to aid those children in need. The GoodLife kids foundation raises funds to support national, provincial and local programs to help Canadian kids get active. The foundation believes that setting children on a path towards a lifetime of healthy habits can improve their quality of life reducing their risk of being diagnosed with serious illnesses in later life. To date the foundation has impacted over 240,000 Canadian kids through physical activity opportunities. The GoodLife kids foundation has events that allow citizens of the community the opportunity to contribute to the assistance in raising money. Events include; the spin for kids, the grant program, city chase and the school program.

In 2011 Dr. Dick Barter, a good life group cycling instructor held a spin-a-thon event to help more canadian kids benefit from an active life which raised over $23,000. As this event brought on the idea of a nationwide spin-a-thon the Spin4Kids fundraiser was born in 2012.

Currently the foundation's grant program is focused on providing ongoing physical activity opportunities for children with special needs. GoodLife fitness covers 100% of the administrative and operational expenses so that each dollar raised will make the biggest impact on the lives of Canadian children.
